((o)) radiator x – 120308 – eat it!

rxl_k.gifeat it! radia #360 kunst und brot + radia #237 reheat the schnitzel

Kunst und Brot: in the first part of this show we're invited to take place at the table with an slowenian-international artist's collective to think and talk about the daily art and bread. consume as basic necessity?

"In 2012 Cirkulacija 2 collective returns to the habit of using language as medium for communication – and publicly: a format denoted as 'salon' as aesthetic outlet. In the first instalment we prepared a radio show discussion hopefully touching some of the important conceptual approaches regarding the public appearances of Cirkulacija 2. While more abstractly coded radio broadcast could be used, we decided for the more basic approach – the discussion, the talk.
The composition (of dicussion) was defined as open-minded, and with it we wanted to force upon us the topics that could potentially be emotional – or: the topics would have to be emotionally solved. It is of course the question of individuals’ different views on some very basic approaches.
The dynamics of a group over the years is a varying organism. Some things get forgotten, some topics get consumed, there is a constant fight against boredom and disillusionment. Some rituals and definitions have to be changed – and some new introduced. The production of meaning – the ideology?"

afterwards, we'll serve again a very special meal with a schnitzelessen coming from the complex cuisine of the legendary reheat festival:

"This years REHEAT festival's theme was 'electromagnetism' and therefore an ideal place to capture sounds for a radio show. The proceedings of the whole day included video installations, gps guided tours, lectures, many concerts and much more. The best way to represent this multitude was to send all recordings through the cut-up software called 'Schnitzel' written by one of the festivals co-organizers Dieb13. It was a great festival, next year you should go there in person. Until then there is this show." [K.A.]

weathers. elements. states of matter.
measurable. in time. thus we're measuring them. in time. at the same time we know: measuring and sensing is two different things.
and so the rain is terminating time – the very time trying to catch it. of course in vain. raintime is a different time.

"raintime" is part of the series TIME BENDING CLOCK RADIO.
TIME BENDING CLOCK RADIO is radio on time.
since summer 2010, TIME BENDING CLOCK RADIO is one of the active mechanisms of the TIME BENDING CLOCK, a research project and tool looking at alternate theories and practices of measuring time, operating at the intersections of art, media, cultural history and the history of science.

((o)) radiator x – 120105 – re:religion

rxl_k.gifre:religion radia #351 global prayers religion'n'roll + radia #317 alarmist plot

talking about religion? remember gretchen's question in goethe's faust?
a playback rather than an answer, no? first with religion'n' roll by piko be from berlin, produced for the exhibition "global prayers":

"Piko Be’s Religion’n'Roll Radio – Tobias Yves Zintel, Pollyester, Polyversal Souls Impressions of St. Agnes in Berlin, Kreuzberg – rent by a congregation named 'Citykirche'. Memories of The Church Of The Little Green Man – a gathering place for artists and outlaws. Sounds of the Theaterkapelle in Berlin, Friedrichshain – an eventspace, where also burials are taking place." [DMCC]

and afterwards – perfectly matching with the beginning of the new year – a follow-up by maxime blanpain from brussels with some dark prophecies from the mayan calendar:

"Some people say there are only 609 days left for human kind (according to the Maya calendar). Others pretend the Last Judgment is ongoing. Then that is little time to read again Mathew (24-25) or the Book of Revelations. This work started with the will to use the words of a preacher i recorded few years ago in Basel (CH).
Not that i wanted to discuss the relevance/rightness of an apocalyptic preach, but something in that speech had to be pursued.
That led me to associate the vehemence of the first part with a second one more breathing and rather speechless. Now, that breath of air could either sketch an interpretation of the Noah's journey on his arch (mentioned by the preacher), or be a response to the alarmists passion, or be a free space of no-response needed." [M.B.]

talking about religion? the anser is yours.

RadioGarten | RadioGarden

City gardens and urban gardening are high in trend. As recent initiatives for community gardens and other activities (like i.e. the so called "guerilla gardening") can show, this new (or renewed) interest in gardening is not only motivated by individual desires, but strongly informed by ecological and social engagement as well.

lgb-gtik.gifon time radia #349 with the wind + radia #329 bratislava short cuts

in september 2011, members from of TIME INVENTORS’ KABINET (TIK) met in bratislava for another week of collective research on radio as a tool for investigating alternate traces of time:

this time, we went with the wind. literally. for not only our research was guided by the wind, but also our radio transmissions.

the week started with the opening of the exhibition ‘vietor a cas’ (‘wind and time’) in ASIL gallery, Bratislava – directly connected to the radio art week not only because the works presented were about wind, time, sound, and transmission.
among the latter were also two installations of wind clocks built by barb huber, the underwear clock and the laundry clock – both moved by the door’s back draught generated by visitors entering and leaving the exhibition space.
together with other wind clocks built by members of the TIME INVENTORS’ KABINET, these temporary wind clocks were driving the wind time on which the whole TIK radio art week’s schedule was built upon. […] WITH THE WIND is based on two pieces broadcasted during our third transmission on wind day 12, 09:00:00 – SPACE IN BETWEEN, a sound walk reflection by martina kedrova, and DOUBLE FROZEN WIND KABINET, the transformation of a transformation of a live piece by norbert math.

for the second part of the show, we take a shortcut to "BRATISLAVA SHORTCUTS", the first production of TIK radio collective:

in march 2011, members from of TIME INVENTORS' KABINET (TIK) met in bratislava for a week of collective research on radio as a tool for investigating alternate traces of time.
we used a wide range of methods (a.o. city walks, field recordings, investigations in individual as well as collective imaginations, deliberate data dreaming) to explore topics like time bending, hazy time, wind time, lichen clocks, ecotime zones, shortcuts – the latter to become the focus topic for our radio show.
based on our observations and findings we developed, performed and broadcast a live radio show on friday, march 18, 2011, as part of the research week's public closing event at hacklab progressbar.

TIK radio 'bratislava shortcuts' is a collaborative effort by
Guy van Belle (BE), Michal Cudrnak (SK), Nina Czegledy (HU), Barbara Huber (AT/SK), Kruno Jost (HR), Marton Andras Juhasz (HU), Michal Kindernay (CZ), Laszlo Kiss (HU), Verena Kuni (DE), and Jürgen Rendl (AT/SK).

((o)) radiator x – 111013 – mapping

rxl_k.gifmapping radia #339 all that is solid melts into air + radia #206 selections from silenceradio

maps. and mappings. of sound.

a journey around the world. not in hundred days. but for half an hour. from city to city. each of which hosts a radia art radio network partner station:

"The piece is composed of a series of maps that trace a path through all Radia Network stations in Europe. The maps are then encoded to sound through a protocol for transmission of images over radio known as slow-scan television, or SSTV (in this case, Robot 72s Color). The piece re-interprets the solid as air through the processes of encoding, transmitting, receiving and decoding the map. Through this process, the physical and imagined boundaries depicted on the map become distorted through their interaction with the actual space they intend to represent." [T.R.]

afterwards, we'll be floating around in a sound capsule from silenceradio.org through the cosmos of "soundscapes forever".

((o)) radiator x – 110922 – TBC radio : too/two short cuts

lgb-gtik.gifTBC radio : too/two short cuts radia #335 castration radia + radia #329 TIK bratislava shortcuts

cuts make it shorter. but what about cuts in time – against time?

first they come undesired. slobodan kajkut does a short cut for radio. however, his piece is too short. thus we'll need some time fill the gap:

"'Castration Radia' and is 20 minutes long. The length of the piece is a part of its concept, that deals with the issue of format radio: The Radia shows are normally 28 minutes long, so that the broadcasting machines and organisational structure of the different broadcast stations can handle all the shows easily. So the question arose, how Radia would handle these remaining 8 minutes […]" [R.H.]

but then there are also short cuts we're longing for. as those we happily found in bratislava:
