geschichte machen (zur zeit) | making history (in time)
history is made. images are made. history is made with/in images. but how and at what costs? and what is the impact of our perception of time?
miss.gunst muses about these and other questions, looking at works presented in the exhibition "Making History", on show at Museum für Moderne Kunst, MMK Zollamt and at Frankfurter Kunstverein as part of Ray 2012.
"geschichte machen | making history" is part of the series TIME BENDING CLOCK RADIO.
TIME BENDING CLOCK RADIO is radio on time.
since summer 2010, TIME BENDING CLOCK RADIO is one of the active mechanisms of the TIME BENDING CLOCK, a research project and tool looking at alternate theories and practices of measuring time, operating at the intersections of art, media, cultural history and the history of science.
find out more about the TIME BENDING CLOCK by visiting the TIME BENDING CLOCK WORK.
Like TIME BENDING CLOCK, TIME BENDING CLOCK RADIO is part of the TIME INVENTORS' KABINET (TIK).
The TIME INVENTORS' KABINET is a collaborative artistic research project at the intersections of ecology, art, and media,
taking an ecological approach to observing patterns in time and time control systems.

re:religion
radia #351 global prayers religion'n'roll + radia #317 alarmist plot
talking about religion? remember gretchen's question in goethe's faust?
a playback rather than an answer, no? first with religion'n' roll by piko be from berlin, produced for the exhibition "global prayers":
"Piko Be’s Religion’n'Roll Radio – Tobias Yves Zintel, Pollyester, Polyversal Souls Impressions of St. Agnes in Berlin, Kreuzberg – rent by a congregation named 'Citykirche'. Memories of The Church Of The Little Green Man – a gathering place for artists and outlaws. Sounds of the Theaterkapelle in Berlin, Friedrichshain – an eventspace, where also burials are taking place." [DMCC]
and afterwards – perfectly matching with the beginning of the new year – a follow-up by maxime blanpain from brussels with some dark prophecies from the mayan calendar:
"Some people say there are only 609 days left for human kind (according to the Maya calendar). Others pretend the Last Judgment is ongoing. Then that is little time to read again Mathew (24-25) or the Book of Revelations. This work started with the will to use the words of a preacher i recorded few years ago in Basel (CH).
Not that i wanted to discuss the relevance/rightness of an apocalyptic preach, but something in that speech had to be pursued.
That led me to associate the vehemence of the first part with a second one more breathing and rather speechless. Now, that breath of air could either sketch an interpretation of the Noah's journey on his arch (mentioned by the preacher), or be a response to the alarmists passion, or be a free space of no-response needed." [M.B.]
talking about religion? the anser is yours.

RadioGarten | RadioGarden
City gardens and urban gardening are high in trend. As recent initiatives for community gardens and other activities (like i.e. the so called "guerilla gardening") can show, this new (or renewed) interest in gardening is not only motivated by individual desires, but strongly informed by ecological and social engagement as well.

TBC radio : shortcuts to eternity
radia #329: TIK RADIO BRATISLAVA SHORTCUTS + #57: and now eternity
in march 2011, members from of TIME INVENTORS' KABINET (TIK) met in bratislava for a week of collective research on radio as a tool for investigating alternate traces of time.
we used a wide range of methods (a.o. city walks, field recordings, investigations in individual as well as collective imaginations, deliberate data dreaming) to explore topics like time bending, hazy time, wind time, lichen clocks, ecotime zones, shortcuts – the latter to become the focus topic for our radio show.
based on our observations and findings we developed, performed and broadcast a live radio show on friday, march 18, 2011, as part of the research week's public closing event at hacklab progressbar.
for the second part of our show we hand over to radio TAZ lemurie prag – and in/to eternity.
TIK radio 'bratislava shortcuts' is a collaborative effort by
Guy van Belle (BE), Michal Cudrnak (SK), Nina Czegledy (HU), Barbara Huber (AT/SK), Kruno Jost (HR), Marton Andras Juhasz (HU), Michal Kindernay (CZ), Laszlo Kiss (HU), Verena Kuni (DE), and Jürgen Rendl (AT/SK).
